American Pit Bull Terrier
History and Origin
The American Pit Bull Terrier was bred for dogs fighting in the 19 century, crosses between Bulldogs and Terriers being used. But some breeders believe that this breed is the original bulldog of the past.
Temperament and Personality
The American Pit Bull Terrier is a good-natured, courageous, affectionate and strong-minded dog. They are not aggressive toward people but toward other dogs and pets. The American Pit Bull Terrier needs socialisation, training and a lot of exercise.
Size and Appearance
The American Pit Bull Terrier is a muscular, extremely strong and powerful dog.
Any colour is acceptable. The coat is short and shiny. Height is 18-22 inches; weight is 22 -110 pounds.
Care
The short coat is easy to groom. Weekly brushing once a is enough but it is better to brush them every day and rub with a piece of towelling to make the coat gleam.
Life Span is 10-12 years.
