History and Origin
The Staffordshire Bull Terrier originated from Staffordshire, England.
They were developed in the 19th century from crosses between Bulldogs and various Terriers
for dog fighting and ratting. The breed's popularity waned after dogfights have being forbidden.
But later the breed gained popularity again, especially in the United States.
Temperament and Personality
The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is intelligent, fearless, devoted to the family. They adore children and are friendly to strangers. Their forefather being fighting dogs, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier's owner should be a firm, dominant and active person. Staffordshires need a rigorous exercise to feel well.
Size and Appearance
